Literacy Program for Women:
WMRCC of Durham in partnership with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Durham Chapter have been engaged in enhancing women’s literacy skills. Through this program, women are provided with the opportunity to work one on one with teachers who assist them in their identified areas of needs. A social worker or counsellor including students and volunteers from WMRCC are always available on hand at the program to support women just in case they have any pressing issues to discuss during the session.
This program is designed to enable women and newcomer women to acquire some skills to assist their children with home work, assist the women with their school assignment as well as up-grading their english and maths skills.
